The federal government has introduced a new session on the position different heating methods, corresponding to storage heaters, infrared panels or renewable liquid fuels can play in decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.

Business associations OFTEC & UKIFDA have welcomed the information. Paul Rose, CEO of OFTEC, and Ken Cronin, CEO of UKIFDA (pictured), commented: We’re happy that DESNZ is asking for proof to tell future choices on a possible renewable liquid heating gasoline obligation.

“The session will discover the usage of renewable liquid fuels for oil heated buildings and recognises that buyers may scale back emissions from their heating while protecting their current boilers. This avoids the disruption and excessive upfront value of transitioning to another heating system which survey information reveals is supported by shoppers.

“Our trade has demonstrated the viability of this strategy and we welcome the popularity within the session of our proactive position. This consists of the readiness of the sector to work with officers, and our trade venture over three heating seasons which noticed Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) efficiently utilized in 150 oil heated buildings throughout the UK.”

The session closes on 10th February 2026.
